stealth camper build

In 2023 started a stealth camper build, Stealth because let’s face it, in the UK it would have to be covert, or the council would charge you council tax, move you on, and tell you that you can’t live in anything other than a house. So we had to make it look like a standard Luton lorry van, so no windows. So we purchased an ex-delivery van and started with the front cab, We completely stripped it and refurbished it to make it look almost brand new. Then we gave the engine a full service and cleaned the engine bay. Next was to start on the main attraction, The home. The first step was to insulate the walls but not the ceiling yet as it let in so much light it was easier to work in there without torches. Once that was done, We wired in a 240v system for 4 plug sockets with USB charging and 1 light switch. Then we could start the walls, with we used tongue and groove interior cladding, each pack contained 5 panels at a cost of around £25 per pack, We used 40 packs. Once that was done, we built the bed base which served as a room for the conventional toilet, We plumbed in the toilet and made pipework ready for the kitchen sink also and we made it available to connect the hot water system as well. The toilet was flushed to an external tank with two outlets for draining. We then installed the brand-new kitchen with a gas hob and stainless steel sink. We then put in a small log burner for warmth and toyed with running copper piping in a coil swirl around the flue for heating and hot water but ran out of time due to other projects we had running. We installed a 400w inverter which would be fine for TVs, lights, and items such as that. For the amount of money we had already invested, We did not see it worth paying for a large inverter. There was no need for any painting on the job which made a change from our main income stream.

Where is this stealth camper now?

We can’t tell you that, It’s stealth after all. However we sold it to make way for our other projects. A couple bought it and added a side window and modified the other bits.
