The Shirley warren property Fire was started by some rogue gardeners, Who poached our customer from us while we were on site. We were originally requested to attend and quote for a front and rear garden clear and then quote for a kitchen renovation and a bathroom refit. When we attended we first had to trample down a large amount of nettles just to get to the front door. Then when we were in the front door way with the property owner and some topless gardeners walk around the corner and offer to cut back the garden cheap in return for ‘putting the before and after images on Facebook’. However a few days later we were asked to return to the property and board up all of the windows and doors, It was not until our arrival that we discovered the whole rear of the property had collapsed and burned down, along with four of the surrounding gardens, sheds and windows of surrounding properties. The neighbours informed us that the rogue gardeners had no tools but instead poured petrol of the foliage and set fire to it, when it became out of control they fled in their car, Never to be seen again. It now looks as though the property owner does not want any of the renovation works in order to fetch a higher price when selling but now to board it up and auction it off, That is our prediction not fact of course. We have boarded the property but not heard anything since. We understand that the local paper reported on this devastating fire in Southampton.
The fire service had to smash the roof tiles of the outbuilding toilet to enable water to get inside and the conservatory door had to be ripped off. The structure will not need to be removed and all windows and door replaced on this property and the surrounding also. From what we are hearing down the grapevine, The landlords insurance will need to cover all damages but the neighbours are struggling to make contact with him. So far a number of the neighbours have had to fork out themselves to repair their windows. We have quoted our building contracting services for removing all burned debris and turning over the top layer of soil but have not heard anything in over a week. A source told us that had the fire service not arrived when they did the whole property would have gone up very quickly due to a mound of books from floor to ceiling was just beyond the conservatory in the ‘dining room’.
